Richard Brown joined Brookfield Financial in 2011 as a Managing Partner based in Hong Kong and has over 25 years of banking experience. He is responsible for all aspects of activities of Brookfield Financial in Asia, with special focus on involving Asian investors and companies with opportunities in other regions.

Following four years with the consulting firm of McKinsey & Company, he spent 18 years with Citibank, where he was involved in M&A, created and managed real estate funds, closed property transactions, and co-founded the bank’s real estate capital markets practice. He was also Chairman of Citibank Canada Securities Limited, before assuming the role of Financial Institutions head for Citibank in Asia Pacific. Just prior to Brookfield Financial, Richard ran the transaction banking activities in Asia for the Bank of New York Mellon, having also been with Bank of America in a similar capacity.

Richard has spent over 20 years of his career involved with markets in Asia, both institutional and with high net worth investors, and moved with his family to Hong Kong in 2000.

He has an engineering degree from Imperial College, London, UK, and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. He serves as a Governor of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
